Why is This Important?
The Board of County Commissioners adopted the Regional Electric Vehicle Action Plan on May 14, 2024. The plan provides a strategic roadmap to guide the County, its communities and their partners toward a shared vision for supporting plug-in electric vehicles in a growing region.
What Does It Mean?
The number of publicly accessible charging stations continues to grow each year, making electric vehicles more accessible to residents of and visitors to Arapahoe County.
Definition
This measure tracks the total number of publicly accessible electric vehicle (EV) charging stations located within Arapahoe County.
There are two types of charging stations including in this measure: (1) Level 2, or L2, Charging Stations use alternating current power on a 208–240V circuit which is one step up from a standard outlet. This provides electric vehicles with steady, higher voltage charge. (2) Direct Current Fast Charging, or DCFC, Stations are the fastest mechanism for charging electric vehicles operating between 400 – 1000V alternating current. These stations can typically charge an electric vehicle to 80% in about 20-30 minutes.
