Why is This Important?

This metric looks at public transit access for County residents. In addition to improving environmental quality, transit access can positively impact upward mobility by reducing barriers to employment, education, health care, and childcare. Promoting residential development within walking distance of transit services is a state goal codified in HB24-1313 Housing in Transit-Oriented Communities. 

What Does It Mean?

In 2025, an estimated 4,294 residents in unincorporated Arapahoe County lived within 1/2 mile of a transit station which is 4.10% of the unincorporated population. This is compared to the estimated 47,981 residents in incorporated Arapahoe County that lived within 1/2 mile of a transit station which is 9.23% of the incorporated population.

Definition

This measure shows the percent of the County’s population living within a half-mile of a transit station, separated into residents in unincorporated and incorporated Arapahoe County. Transit stations includes commuter bus rapid transit, commuter rail, and light rail.
