Safe and Healthy Communities
Why is This Important?
The Pre-Trial Services Program plays a critical role in promoting public safety while supporting the judicial process. By allowing eligible defendants to remain in the community under structured supervision instead of pretrial detention, the program helps reduce jail overcrowding, lower costs, and support individuals in maintaining employment, housing, and family connections.
What Does It Mean?
In Q1 2026, the Pre-Trial Services Program served 2,050 unique individuals. This is an increase from the number of unique individuals served in Q4 2025. Historically, Q1 and Q2 see higher numbers than Q3 and Q4.
Definition
Arapahoe County provides judicial services programs through the Community Resources Department. The pre-trial program allows eligible defendants, while their cases are pending adjudication, to remain in the community under court-ordered supervision and conditions in lieu of pretrial detention.
This measure tracks the number of unique individuals served through the pre-trial services program. Because cases are not open and shut within the same reporting period, this measure will show the total number of cases carried for the entire quarter. This could include cases carried over from the previous quarter if they are still being managed.
