Why is This Important?

This measure highlights access and connectivity through the adoption of more on-street bike facilities. Increasing the availability of bicycle facilities continues to be an objective in the County’s Bike and Pedestrian Master Plan. The overall goal is to have a high‐quality, connected, accessible, and intuitive bicycle and pedestrian network that is integrated with the regional bicycle, pedestrian, and transit system and is free of barriers.

Definition

This measure tracks the total increase in the number of on-street bike facilities in both incorporated and unincorporated Arapahoe County. On‑street bike facilities include any bikeway located within or adjacent to the public right‑of‑way, such as bike lanes, paved shoulders, signed bike routes, and side paths. These facilities support safe, comfortable bicycle travel and help create a connected multimodal network.
