Index measure that reflects opportunities available for Arapahoe County residents.
Social and economic conditions are directly correlated with health outcomes.
Low – Tri-County operates programs that seek to improve the opportunities available for Arapahoe County residents, but the data mostly reflects outside forces that are out of Tri-County’s control.
The Opportunity Index is meeting or exceeding expectations in the county. Between 2018 and 2019, two of the four indicators – percentage of people living at or below poverty level and percent of occupied housing units paying more than 30% of their household income on rent – moved in the target direction (i.e., poverty decreased and fewer people paid greater than 30% of their income on rent). The remaining two indicators remained steady: the percentage of people over the age of 25 with less than a high school diploma and the unemployment rate. These data do not include 2020 data, which will be released in the fall of 2021; we expect changes from the COVID-19 pandemic to be visible in these newer data.
