Utility Use

There are 3 contributing measures within Utility Use. Click here to learn about these measures.

Represents the total utility (water, natural gas, electricity) usage at Arapahoe County facilities.

Reflects the County’s commitment to reducing consumption of water, natural gas, and electricity.

High –The County measures its actual utility usage for comparison to its target utility usage

Actual utility use was lower than target utility use in Q1 of 2022. This is primarily the result of preventive maintenance for HVAC/plumbing and improved building controls. One of the County's largest buildings, the Justice Center, experienced lower electric and water use. Additionally, the weather from January to March  was warmer than anticipated which reduced heating requirements at County buildings.

Increased staff engagement and awareness regarding the importance of sustainable energy use was key to maintaining high performance for this measure as well as the continued hybrid remote work policy currently in place.
