An index measure that gauges the physical health of Arapahoe County residents.
Public health monitors population trends to identify health risks that may require prevention or policy action.
Tri-County operates programs directly to impact these issues and collaborates with partners throughout the county who are also working on improving the physical health of Arapahoe County residents.
The Physical Health Index score does not meet expectations for adult health. Only one of the five measures – adult smoking – improved. Between 2018 and 2019, more people reported not having health insurance and the death rate from falls increased. The birth rate to teens aged 15-19 increased slightly as did the percent of adolescents currently using an electronic vapor product. 2020 data will be released in the fall of 2021; we expect changes from the COVID-19 pandemic to be visible in these newer data.
